Skimping on Training

Saturday, March 7, 2009

Workplace deaths rose in North Carolina in 2008, and the Department of Labor is worried that the economy is forcing companies to cut safety training.
That is the worst place that employers can cut costs, especially in the construction and manual labor jobs. If just one employee is not trained properly, than all employees on the jobsite are in danger.
Safety training should be mandatory. There should be no ifs, ands, or buts about taking the time to ensure that proper safety procedures are followed because dropping safety training to save a few bucks puts your employees' lives in danger and will end up costing the company millions in penalties.
